What percentage of your sales do you calculate in order to tip your cooks at work?
I work at a Sports Bar in Southern Oregon, We Have a full menu (resturaunt style) that we offer with our large variety of alcohol. When we sell lots and make good money we tip our co-workers out pretty decent, (cooks and bartenders) But just like every other resturant there are slow days and little sales. Unfortunatly our cooks are getting a little greedy and giving us attitude when we only give them a couple bucks instead of 5 or more! Even if we are dead slow! So I need someone who works in a resturant to please give me an idea as to what percentage of my food sales I can calculate from now on to tip out?!

i used to work at a resturant that served food beer and wine…the servers normally tip 3% of their TOTAL sales, not just food. of course there are exceptions, like if the cook remakes something for you, goes out of their way to make something happen, tip them better, but never worse! there is nothing worse than being a server and having the cooks hate you!

1% of your food sales should be good and fair
