How do I find architect that designed homes in the Chicago area > 20 yrs ago?

A web search does not give any results. He would have had to apply for permits or perhaps the builder would? Not sure how best to start this process. My final result is to find out the homes that were built and prepare a pictoral/book dedicated to the builder (who is deceased).

    I’m not sure i know what you’re looking for. If you know the dead builder’s company perhaps you can find his records. These would be available if his company is still in existence or if you know his heirs.

    If you know the contractor’s projects there are blueprints in city hall. They will have the architect’s name.

    Contact the local alderman’s office where some of the homes are located.. There should be some information there or they should be able to aim you in the right direction.

    Lastly, City Hall. Go to the following site and submit your request and wait for a reply:
